Panama’s New Airport Terminal

Panama’s new airport terminal is here.  If you’ve ever flown into Panama City via the Tocumen Airport, you know it’s a modern, clean and efficient international airport.  Despite receiving up to 360 daily flights as of June 2022, it also rarely feels crowded.  Seeing around 12 million passengers per year, layovers still tend to be a breeze. Tourists can usually get through immigration, grab their bags and be out onto their taxi in less than 30 minutes. However, as the airport Hub of the Americas, Panama knew there was a need to increase flights and give visitors an  even better experience. To this end,  the airports’ new terminal finally opened its doors to both domestic and international flights in June 2022.

As of  June 22nd, Tocumen’s new terminal airport is receiving 280 flights daily carrying approximately 49 thousand travelers.  New airlines are already offering flights to and from Panama’s second airport terminal, in additional to those already providing service such as  COPA Airlines, KLM, United Airlines and Air France.

From Panama, to the World!

Positioning itself as Latin-America’s air hub has been one of  Panama’s highest priorities.  Terminal 2 is the culmination of this successful campaign.  Adding 20 new arrival and departure gates, an additional 10 million passengers can now pass through Panama’s new airport terminal annually – nearly double the current capacity.  Boosting tourism is high on Panama’s agenda, so this, alongside other efforts such as COPA’s Panama Stopover, program will definitely give it a push in the right direction. Lets not forget that one of Panama’s selling points is that it’s a great place to do business, so the new airport includes a Business Lounge where executives can conduct meetings in private.  Comfortable seating for 420 guests and  diverse spaces for work and relaxation with soft lighting and leather chairs are also available.

Locals and foreign visitors alike will be thrilled as well that the Panama City metro will connect Tocumen International Airport directly to Panama City.  Getting to the airport by metro will become a reality by early 2023!
